Alexsey Chernih

CEO

View bio

Alexsey has been the CEO of two health construction businesses for over 15 years.  Since forming New World Office Fitouts in 2008, now known as Hospital Fitout Group Pty Ltd, he has built the business so that it is now the preferred contractor of Sydney LHD.

With a focus on providing workable solutions to real-time concerns of operating hospitals and clinics, Alexsey has instigated a number of key strategies that elevate Hospital Fitout Group and which can be applied to any industry.

  • Works are completed in downtime, with scheduling of works for evenings and weekends to prevent loss of income.
  • Complete refurbishments are conducted in stages in order to minimise disruption to service and avoid closure.
  • When clinics cannot be closed, creative approaches are used to enable work without interruption to service.  To complete works on a consulting room at Canterbury ED, access to the site was gained by cutting through an external wall in order to prevent disruption to the ED, which cannot close for even the shortest time periods.
  • Proactive assessment of space to value-add to clinics.  For instance, addressing whether an additional chair be inserted to inject revenue into a practice.
  • Costs are minimised.  Repeat business is valued over higher premiums for work.
  • Certificate of Completion for GC21 General Conditions of Contract on Construction Contracts and a Certificate for Conflict Resolution for the Construction Sector.

As CEO, Alexsey’s focus is on building trusted relationships with hospitals and LHD Capital Works departments.  Under his governance, Alexsey has maintained a clean record of zero WH&S incidents and a consistent record of on-time and on-budget projects.

Nick is a knowledgeable and skilled Site Manager with exceptional team management skills and 27 years’ experience. As well as possessing standard White Card, WH&S and relevant commercial licences, Nick brings a wealth of practical skills to this role.

Working on-site, Nick is responsible for all trades and suppliers, and has a well-earned reputation for maintaining an impeccably clean and organised site. He understands the importance of organisation and communication, and his pride in his workmanship and the quality of his fitouts is clearly evident.

When working with hospital management to develop a plan of work, Nick incorporates daily updates with the hospital foreman to negotiate the specialist demands of working with fully functioning hospital wards.

Nick manages his team in a responsive manner that works intelligently to overcome challenges on a case-by-case basis. For example, when working on the Burns Unit at Concord Hospital, the job specifications were to refit an isolated clean room. This job had additional requirements that meant no contaminants could enter the site. All workers and tools were sterilised and dust-free. All work was monitored daily to make sure that all access panels and fittings were absolutely airtight.

Nick has experience in coordinating with a wide variety of other trades, such as specialist electrical installers and suppliers of professional hospital and dental equipment. Nick has been working with Alexsey and Hospital Fitout Group since its inception and is a core member of the team.
